Feelin' good!
Although I haven't blogged in a few days, I have stayed on training. Saturday was fun! I finally met "catseye" and we walked together which was great. That last hill was a bummer, but we made it! I know I will be "dog-tired" in Chicago when that hill is in view, but knowing that I am .2 miles from the finish line will invigorate me...I HOPE. I just love our Saturdays when we get together with our fellow marathoners and our VERY SPECIAL mentors, Mark, Robin, and Matt. I keep telling my husband how much I wish he was a part of this but he had back surgery six months ago and felt it was a bit too early to participate in something like this. But come next year, we will both be training for 2008. I am so happy my "new" daughter-in-law, Kristy, is doing this with me. I get to see her at least once a week and it is a good bonding experience for us. She is much younger, of course, and has much longer legs than I, so she will probably stay in a faster group than me. I don't care how fast or how slow I am...I am a MARATHONER ! I just listened to Mark's podcasts and they are great. I look forward to the one he does about our stuffing our stuff or something like that. Today I spent 20 min. on the ellipticisor (spelling doesn't look right) and then played doubles tennis for 2 hrs. I can see an improvement in my quickness and stamina in tennis. It just seems too early to see that, but I don't think it is my imagination. My legs feel stronger...wahoo! I went to the online store and ordered the book Mark had yesterday, and it was less than $20. I ordered a stretching band also and have no idea if it is worthwhile or not, but it was cheap and I'll give it a try. I am so-o-o tight and always have been, so I know I need to do regular stretching to avoid injury. Well, I have made up for the days I missed blogging! Gotta get up early in the a.m.! I AM A MARATHONER!!

Hi! It's great that you and your daughter-in-law are doing this together! I know you will BOTH do well. And you're right. I'm with you, I don't care how fast/slow I go, just as long as I get this done. And my brother is doing well. He had a hard time in the beginning, but he actually likes it. And after he graduates in May he will be home for 10 days, and wants to come to one of our group Saturday's. Have a great week and see you Sat!
Thanks for the advice. You are right, though, if I give in for that first bite I am doomed. Maybe the community of marathoners and my accountability to all of you will help me through.
